high after a government report showed a drop in U.S. pork
stockpiles, a sign that global demand for the meat may be
increasing. Cattle also gained.
Cotton Rises to 16-Month High in New York on Dollar; Orange Juice Advances Cotton rose to a 16-month high as
the dollar’s decline boosted prospects for demand and as holders
of the commodity signaled they are unwilling to deliver supplies
against the December futures contract. Orange juice declined.
Wheat Futures Advance as Weaker Dollar May Boost Investments, U.S. Exports Wheat rose for the first time in
four sessions on speculation that a weaker dollar will boost the
appeal of commodities as a hedge against inflation and improve
U.S. export sales.
Coffee Rises for First Time in Three Sessions as Dollar Falls; Cocoa Gains Coffee prices rose for the first
time in three sessions as a slumping dollar increased the appeal
of commodities and on speculation that low prices may be
discouraging producers from selling. Cocoa also gained.
